ARTE & CAMBIO SOCIAL - ART & SOCIAL CHANGE
FROM AUGUST 26 – 29, 2008 a group of young people ages 13 to 17 toured the city of Toronto and created art with some of Toronto's most progressive community artists. For four days, participants and four community artists explored how Break-dance, percussion, Improving Theater and the art of power dynamics has been used historically as instruments of social change and self-expression. The workshops were delivered in various community centers and organizations in Toronto as an attempt to expose the participants to different physical areas where programming and services for young people are delivered.
Arte & Cambio Social/Art & Social Change is a program is part of a series of workshops called Identidad Series. Identidad Series is an initiative hosted by The Hispanic Development Council (HDC) to support the wealth of talent and skills of young facilitators. Platforms are being created for thirteen facilitators to deliver workshops to the community at large as a means of highlighting the talent in Latin American Community of Toronto.
